The Foundation’s was established to support plant biosecurity research, development, extension and capacity building, particularly focused where there is a need for investment in environmental, capacity building, international linkages, non-levy payer, cross-sectoral, and strategic plant biosecurity research. The Foundation will also invest in commercial IP developed by and inherited from PBCRC. It is hoped in the long term that a return is realised from this IP and the Foundation will manage and invest those funds in plant biosecurity science.

The Members were enthusiastic about the national role we can play, building off the wonderful track record of two CRCs. In particular, we will focus our resources on:

  • Environmental biosecurity, including social/community biosecurity and noting significant synergies with other nominated areas like capacity building and international linkages; and in particular building on the Myrtle Rust Action Plan
  • Proactively seeking co-investment, partnership and research brokering opportunities with interested parties; and
  • Managing our commercial IP

Please contact us if you have an opportunity for co-investment or collaboration you would like to discuss …

In addition, there will be new open call later in the year, so watch this space.
